How does the Devil live on earth? According to early producer of personal-success literature Napolean Hill who “interviewed”the Devil states that the Devil lives in the minds of 98% of people. The Devil feeds and thrives on individuals with thoughts of negativity, pessimism, and lack of independent thought (also known as drifters). Whether Hill actually interviewed the Devil or his rendition of the Devil is clearly for you to decide. Points taken away are:
1. Think for yourselves rather than following the thinking of the mass of people. “I can best define the word ‘drift’ by saying that people who think for themselves never drift, while those who do little or no thinking for themselves are drifters. A drifter is one who permits himself to be influenced and controlled by circumstances outside of his own mind. He would rather let me occupy his mind and do his thinking than go to the trouble of thinking for himself. A drifter is one who accepts whatever life throws in his way without making a protest or putting up a fight. He doesn’t know what he wants from life and spends all of his time getting just that. A drifter has lots of opinions, u they are not his own. Most of them are supplied by me (the Devil).“
2. Adversity is what separates those who can handle the pressure from those who can’t. Embrace it as it allows you to transform for the better, if you survive it. “Adversity forces an individual to test his mental, physical, and spiritual strength; it thus brings him face to face with his weaknesses and gives him the opportunity to bridge them. Adversity forces one to seek ways and means to definite ends by meditation and introspective thought. This often leads to the discovery and use of the sixth sense through which one may communicate with Infinite Intelligence. Adversity forces one to recognize the need for intelligence not available except from sources outside of one’s own mind. Adversity breaks old habits of thought and gives one an opportunity to form new habits; therefore, it may serve to break the hold of hypnotic rhythm and change its operation from negative to positive ends.“.
3. These are the 7 principles to attain spiritual, mental, and physical freedoms:
“a. Definiteness of purpose
b. Mastery over self
c. Learning from adversity
d. Controlling environmental influence (associations)
e. Time (giving permanency to positive, rather than negative thought-habits and developing wisdom)
f. Harmony (acting with definiteness of purpose to become the dominating influence in your own mental, spiritual, and physical environment)
g. Caution (thinking through your plan before you act).“
